Aloha! I have a lifelong passion for the wonders of nature, particularly flora, fauna, and fungi. Born and raised on a vineyard in the picturesque Napa Valley, my love for biology, farming, and the outdoors was ingrained in me from an early age. Over a decade ago, my husband and I made the life-changing move to Maui, settling into a beautiful home amidst the tropical jungles of Haʻikū. This enchanting property has become not just our residence, but also the playground for our two precious daughters.

Becoming a parent provided the breathing space to truly immerse myself in the ecological beauty of our surroundings. It led to the birth of Harvest Moon Botanicals, a venture born from my deep observations of the ecosystem. I discovered plant species I had never encountered before and in my journey to identify these botanical wonders, I found myself connecting with a vibrant global community of indoor plant enthusiasts.

Interestingly, some of the plant species I admired on social media, thriving in fashionable Brooklyn and Portland apartments, turned out to be invasive species here on Maui. They grow uninhibited, coloring the landscape in their own unique ways. How some of the rarer species came to flourish on my property remains a mystery—perhaps a testament to the land's previous caretakers or simply the whims of nature through bird and wind dispersal.

Whatever their origin, one fact remains unequivocal: I'm thrilled to cultivate these remarkable plants. It's a privilege to share these pieces of paradise, imbued with the essence of Maui, with a community that cherishes the natural world as much as I do.

Harvest Moon is evolving rapidly as I learn more about the endemic species of Maui, mycology and living a zero-waste lifestyle. My goal with Harvest Moon is to bring a deep connection with Mother Earth through plants and to malama this sacred ‘aina that we are all blessed to call home.
